KMRY Radio has teamed up with the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association because We ♥ our listeners!
- Did you know there are 2500 heart attacks and 2100 strokes nationwide each day?
- By the end of that day, half will not survive.
The American Heart Association and American Stroke Association want to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20% while reducing deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20% by the year 2020. That means saving 863 lives each day! We’ll share information and life-saving messages throughout the next year to help reach these goals.
Eighty percent of risk factors for cardiovascular diseases are preventable by making healthy choices like eating right, exercising and not smoking. We’ll help! In the meantime, put these important dates on your calendar!
- Cedar Rapids Go Red for Women Luncheon–Friday, Dec 1st at Double Tree by Hilton
- 26th Annual Cedar Rapids Heart Ball–Saturday, Feb 24, 2018 at Double Tree by Hilton
We’ll give you more information on these fun events as the dates get closer.
Here’s our message for the month of September:
It’s back to school season, and the American Heart Association wants to remind you that it’s a great time to encourage your kids to eat healthy and be active. One in three children in America is overweight or obese, but kids can live healthier lives by eating more fruits and veggies, avoiding foods high in sugar and sodium and getting 60 minutes of physical activity each day. Visit www.heart.org/healthykids for more tips and information on how to teach your kids to live longer, healthier lives.
